Head light adjusting screws
 

28 Tudor, During my shake down drives before I got my tires balanced (dyna - beads), which are great, I lost a headlight adjusting screw. Don't want to mess with my cork seals to see what size screw is used, so does anyone know what size the adjusting screw is?

Parts Price List is one of the "must have" books for all Model A owners, and lists the 28-9 screw as:
A-20525-S13R in my July 1, 1931 edition. This is listed as 3/16-32 X 1 oval head special screw.

You might need to take the lamp apart anyway to make sure the spring is in place.
Special screw means you might have to call Bert's for the right screw. 800-321-1931

It was listed as a special head screw because it is a 10-32 with a #8 head.

Mine have unscrewed themselves, even after I used some dished star lockwashers. I have thought of adjusting the focus, counting the turns to unscrew, then putting them back in with some blue loctite on them. Or is there a better way to do it? The motor doesn't vibrate badly.

I came up with the same a Doug, 10-32 x 1 1/8" special oval head 350120-S13.

Be careful the replacement screw is not too long - if it is, it can contact the hot terminals at the back of the socket and cause a short to ground.

I had to shorten the screws in the SS repro lights that came with my '28.

I believe the screws are special and are threaded only part way and can only be screwed in so far. This is what I found on some original unmolsted headlamps. I have been looking for some originals that could be used for fine point. Good original ones are not easy to find. I also think 28-29 are different than 30-31 but I could be wrong.

30-31s are shorter, but thread size is the same.
