Re: Is this distributor cap spent? I'd say so.

Re: Is this distributor cap spent? I'm frugal, so I'd use my Dremel with a small drill bit, then grind out the remaining carbon and use a worn out carbon brush to make a new carbon for it. As you can see, I work cheap.:D

Re: Is this distributor cap spent? the cap should "quack" or it or the rotor is no good.

Re: Is this distributor cap spent? I have had aa couple of the clear caps. They seem to "quack" vewy easily and fall off the distributor body. I have one now that I cannot forse a spark through.

I made my own clear cap about 15 years ago and only use it as a demonstration piece or for diagnostic purposes. I used a MoPar alternator round brush for the carbon. I drilled and threaded a piece of .435" brass rod and turned a piece of .350" Lexan for the cap. No one sold clear caps at the time and a few were selling very high on ebay, so I planned to make and sell a few, but by the time I found a sheet of clear Lexan the clear caps became available again. I see Bert's has a good price for them now.
