checking a coil for a Model A?
 

Can anybody tell me if you can check a coil with a volt ohme meter to see if it is any good ?

1.2 ohms on the primary and 3,200 to 4,400 on the secondary. Primary should draw 4 1/2 amps if you have a power supply.

Ohm readings is a good preliminary check, but you need to run the coil to be sure the spark doesn't short to the case or jump across the tower to a terminal. Also be sure to run it long enough to get it to normal operating temperature. The same goes for the condenser.
