A Frame dimensions

Could use some help. wescottsauto.com lists 103.5" wheel base, but if you add all there dimensions it comes up a 1/4" short. the running board mounts from center of rear cross member to center of drivers rear running board bracket is 22 1/2 " 29 Ford chassis lists it at 29" and 27 3/4" to front drivers bracket. Wescott has no dimension for front bracket. I have spent hours looking for the correct dimensions to still have doubt what is right. I purchased Model A plans from an outfit in Canada and they are hot rod plans without any original dimensions for me it was a waste of money.
Thank you for you time. If mounting hole dimensions are correct please let me know.
Terry

I believe the frame dimensions are also in the Judge Standards.

I looked in the RG&JS and there are no frame dimensions.

Here is a link to a site with the frame dimensions

Gentlemen your not getting my point Wescotts wheel base numbers when added are 1/4" short. The 29 model a drawings show much different dimensions for running board bracket mounts thank you for your reply's I'm trying to get accurate numbers .

Found this floating around. Don't know the source. See if it adds up. Good luck.

Re: A Frame dimensions

Wescott's drawing shows from centre of front cross member to centre of rear cross member as being the same as the wheel base. This is wrong because of the camber of the front axle. The wheelbase is actually longer than the crossmembers C to C.

Katy, add all the numbers from front center line to rear center line there's 1/4" short. Which of the measurements is off?

Here is the chassis diagram from "How to Restore the Model A Ford" from Clymer Publications. This might clarify, or throw fuel on the fire.

I will attempt to re-check all measurements against original frames this winter and revise the drawing as needed.

Welcome to Aftermarket Parts. Good enough seems to the the norm. Ugh!! 1/4" is the max for spec on a frame. But "0" is better.

Pretty sure I saw a Model A factory drawing with a scale " plus or minus 1 inch" ;)

FWIW, I own copies of several of the A-5005-* Frame Assembly drawings and the A-5016 Side Member drawings, and I can assure you that you are mistaken. :D
