47 Ford saden front end help 2 Attachment(s)
Hello. I'm rebuilding the front end of a 47 Ford sedan and having trouble getting it back together. I'm having trouble getting the draglink from the steering box to the pass spindle back in place. The draglink hits the wishbone long before it is in place. What am u doing wrong? I put a lowering spring in it but that is the only mod. Im also having issues with the shock. It has tube shocks on it. But they are hitting the stabilizer ends. I also can't find new shocks. Anyone know where you can get shocks with the pin needed to attach to the eye in the mount?

Re: 47 Ford saden front end help someone on here sells the shock mounts, bolt ins. might have to re-mount the shocks to get them right. can't really tell but you might have the shorter dogbone which would reduce your clearance.

Re: 47 Ford saden front end help Here is how the tube shock connects to the axle that's made for it.
http://i1059.photobucket.com/albums/...pstoopwmgm.jpg It doesn't look like your axle has the mount for a tube shock. You may have to get the bolt on kit to use tube shocks. C&G has it here: http://cgfordparts.com/ufolder/cgcat...mber=11A-14308 The drag link is made with a bend to clear the wishbone. Mine still rubs sometimes on sharp right turns. http://i1059.photobucket.com/albums/...psdqjqkdww.jpg\ I wonder if you might have the drag link ends reversed. The adjustment collar on mine is at the end that hooks to the steering arm so that the bent end hooks to the wheel. Or, maybe your drag link is twisted so the bend is not down to clear the wishbone. The bolts on both ends of the drag link are inserted down from the top so that the nut is on the bottom. Is yours like that? |
