38 coil position

Just a quicky: Got my refurbished distributor and rewound 12V '38 coil from Skip yesterday. Put the distributor in and wammo - new engine compared to the old one. Understatement to say that I am pleased.

Today's job is to remove the modern coil and fit the rewound original on the inlet header mounting plate that I have found. however - which way does the coil mount? HT lead up or down?
Many thanks.

stock 38 Coil fits on top of distributor ,sounds like you have the 47/48 one that mounts HT lead down Ted

Re: 38 coil position

Just been out for a test drive and its a whole new engine - no hesitation, heaps of torque, smooth power from its low idle, runs cooler, and overall a whole lot nicer to drive. Many thanks to the forum and to Skip.
