6 blade plastic fan

Would the 6 blade plastic fan be more balanced than the 2 blade aluminum stock fan? Is the only benefit more cooling?

The plastic fan also weighs a lot less than does the aluminum fan.

Use PLASTIC fans for safety, did you ever try to put your elbow against the back side of a METAL fan? PLASTIC fan jist goes, "BRRRRP!! YES, I'VE DONE IT!!

The 6 bladed fan did not win.

Found this on the internet.

Air through the radiator is the important consideration. That is where the heat transfer occurs. Meauring the air flow into the radiator that results from the turning fan is the test to run. That was done and reported in the Spring issue of the Model A Times. Page 7 contains a chart tht shows the results of three fans, the 2 blade, the 4 blade, and the 6 blade.
In front of the radiator the air speed (mph) created by the fan was measured as:
blades-----2---------4--------6
500rpm---4.8--------4.5-----3.0 mph
1000rpm--9.0--------9.6-----8.5 mph
1500rpm--14--------14------13.5 mph

Re: 6 blade plastic fan

After my 4-blade "truck" fan took out my radiator when the rivets let loose, I opted for the plastic fan. Even if it does come loose (witch I doubt it will) the damage it would do to the radiator and/or other sheet metal couldn't help but be considerably less. I also realize that air flow on all 3 fans is essentially the same, so that is not a consideration. Anything past 25 mph, a fan is not needed anyway.

We wouldn't have these computers to ponder such questions on forums like this.
