Electrical/Ground - Solved
 

First of all, thanks for all the help and suggestions. The problem turned out to be in the cut off switch I have on the cable to the starter. Originally when I cleaned the ends I didn't think to disassemble the switch to clean the inside and the screw that cuts off the voltage. I did that finally and it seems to have solved the problem. It's nice to have something that simple go wrong once in a while so I can feel like an idiot. Anyway, thanks for the advice.

glad you found the trouble. its very easy with a testlight or meter
it may also be a good idea to close out your original thread with the fix

I don't recall the cutout switch being mentioned in the original thread, and that's why it's important to mention any modifications to the car. A guy in our club had starter preoblems and had me go through the starter. I found a problem with someone undercutting the commutator and a piece of copper shorting two bars, but the real problem turned out to be a bad cutout switch.

Glad it was an easy cheap fix for you.

Terry, Good to hear you solved the problem, but a word of caution, if your switch is the "quick and dirty" variety it will fail quickly and could over heat due to the internal resistance. A good one should be in the neighborhood of 40 ~50 dollars depending in style.
