Engine Block Studs How Domed?? I am trying to build up a show engine. Jan 29 engine studs are at question. I have several different varieties of domed studs. One style is almost pointed, one is almost flat, another slightly domed with machining circles much like on the lug nuts and a none pointed nipple in the center, and then some that are slightly domed with no machining marks. What is most correct for a blue ribbon restoration? Thanks!! Dan
PS. Back in the Model A parts business again. |

I have an oil pan with your name on it tk |
Re: Engine Block Studs How Domed?? What happened, Dan, get tired of watches? I bet the judges wouldn't deduct point for any domed studs - just my opinion.

Re: Engine Block Studs How Domed?? They probably wouldn't like my ARP studs with Allen heads on them at all.

Re: Engine Block Studs How Domed?? Yes yours shows the machined slightly domed stud. I am sure it your stud top was bead blasted it would show much more machining on the top. Many thanks for your input.

Re: Engine Block Studs How Domed?? Dan, most of the original 28/29 domed studs I have seen seem to have the slight machined circles. The big thing, especially for fine point, is to make sure they all match and are the correct height when mounted.
