31 deluxe roadster vacuum line route

Hi guys , does any one know exactly how to route the vacuum line from the wiper motor to the engine manifold??I purchased some of the parts from Brattons and expect them shortly. I'd like to know were does the line come through the fire wall, and what kind of clips hold it in place. I did a search on this site but still have the questions. thanks for the help THE HOOCH

Attachment 216028Here's a picture of the vacuum line routing through the firewall on my '31 Roadster. Once it's through the firewall it becomes rubber and is routed behind the tank to the driver's side where it goes up the stantion.

thanks for the picture, but can I ask you how the rubber hose under the gas tank is secured to the fire wall? and how high is the line ,is it close to the tank?. really appreciate the help. THE HOOCH

Re: 31 deluxe roadster vacuum line route

originally it is not a rubber hose under the gas tank. it is a steel line it goes from the back of the fitting in the fire wall a crossed the inside of the fire wall with a slow bend in the left corner and back to under the left stanchion. than it go to a rubber hose. I went to NAPA and bought a 62" small brake line the same size as the vacuum line to make it out of. I still have the original one as a sample.

It is mostly metal under the tank, NOT rubber. If you need, I can take photos to post of an original.

I couldn't find a pic of the right end but this gives you an idea. The one original indented firewall Roadster I've seen was slightly different in that the line going across the firewall was bent downward near the center and passed through bracket mounted on one of the upper terminal box screws.

I crawled in and looked again and my line in the cabin is definitely rubber. I guess I've found yet another incorrect fix the guy who restored mine did.

Yes Please ,if you can take the pictures that would be GREAT, the fitting through the fire wall to the stanchion with any brackets or clips would be extremely help full. I thank you so much for your efforts . THE HOOCH

Steve - Were there any special fittings, etc. involved at the firewall connection on the passenger side? The reason that I am asking is that with my roadster about 90% done, it is impossible for me to get at the gas tank bolts, etc.

Thank You in Advance
