Signal Stat 700 wiring diagram I have searched the net and found lots of info on other models such as the 600 or 900, but I have a model 700 and need a diagram to wire it up and have the taillights used for lights, brake, and turn signals without adding an extra set of light fixtures. I know I may need to change the sockets out. I have also seen a simple trailer adapter with wire IN/OUT to make all light work.
I don't need a solution for another switch since I have the fronts working with the 700 and just need to get the backlights working. Help! * * * This is for a 1937, but it ended up in the late V8 section |
Re: Signal Stat 700 wiring diagram Is this a 5 wire or a 6 wire switch? If it's a 5 wire switch you cannot use it unless you add extra lights. It has no provision for the stop light circuit.

Re: Signal Stat 700 wiring diagram According to this post
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/12...h-control.html You have a 5-wire unit and it won't work with the brake light circuit. This post addresses using a trailer adapter, but I suspect you can buy the 7 wire unit just as well as going to the adapter. All you have to do is cut/splice the front wires you already have connected. |
Re: Signal Stat 700 wiring diagram There are five wires on the Signal-Stat Model 700:
•Green - left front •Red - right front •White - left rear •Black - right rear •Yellow - flasher Assuming this is the correct wiring call out for the 700, as stated above there is no brake provision. Don't think you are going to get there with a two filament bulb (believe you are going to need three filaments) short of something else in the circuit. |
Re: Signal Stat 700 wiring diagram I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to wire in some diodes so you can use the same bulb filament for turn and brake lights.

Re: Signal Stat 700 wiring diagram I don't mind it the turn signals take completely over for the taillights and brake lights when they are on. Does that help? I don't know why its so complicated, it would seem that when you flip the signal to the left it knows to blink the lights on the left front and back.

Re: Signal Stat 700 wiring diagram If you are handy electrically you can rig up a system using 2 dpdt relays that will do what you want.
But if you were that electrically savvy I guess you wouldn't have asked. On the face of it, no, you can't do what you want with that switch alone. Mart. |

Re: Signal Stat 700 wiring diagram 1 Attachment(s)
Easy to do with four common 5 pin relays, and you can still keep your parking lights operational if you want.
Better than using one of those failure prone trailer converters. |
Re: Signal Stat 700 wiring diagram The diagram above assumes using the front park lights as indicators. Personally I'd want brighter lights than parking lights for indicators.
It does have it's merits, though. Mart. |
Re: Signal Stat 700 wiring diagram Why don't you buy one of these? I use it on my 36. Works great and is self cancelling by time. It even suspends cancelling when your brakes are on at a stop light. You can use a column mounted turn switch or a micro switch mounted where you want it. I mounted a momentary micro switch on my shifter. IMHO this system is far better than anything else out there on the market. $120 and use your own microswitch.

I included the parking lights in the other diagram as there are some lights that do not have the room to fit a dual contact socket and bulb. The idea of these schematics is the ability to use a cool looking old time signal switch and Signal Stat 700 is a neat looking switch, even if it doesn't self cancel. There are a lot of other good options like the electronic kind if you want to keep the signals pretty much hidden out of sight to not detract from the original appearance of your interior. |
Re: Signal Stat 700 wiring diagram Use the turn switch from a 66 or older VW bus. It has all the correct wires and clamps to the stock column. It's vintage looking and almost looks like a Ford accessory.

See if these will help

Re: Signal Stat 700 wiring diagram My mechanic finally got the 700 to work but he had to do lots of extra work, new sockets, changed to a 3 prong flasher etc. I should have bought a different model that required much less work. After all that it does look and work well.
