Brake rod anti rattle springs

Hello Folks, I have a newbie question regarding the brake rod anti rattle springs.
When installed, is the therory that springs put tension on the rods, pushing the rear rods to the back end and on the front rods the springs push to the front? I'll be installing the wire type springs. Thank you for your help!

Also, the front springs mount on the front side of the frame bracket, and the rear springs mount on the rear side.

In my experience, the wire type springs work a lot better then the flat ones.
The flat ones seem to lose their springiness.

I also prefer the 1931 style wire springs and they do work better.

X two ! Keeping in mind that one or other will be more correct ..restoration wise. Function wise best IMO to use wire type. Although, when using repro wire type, I've had to replace broke 'new' once in a while.

in my recollection, this was a reproduction item that for a long time suffered from the typical repro malaise. I used the wire types from out of the gate.
