31 Coupe wire routing query
 

I need to run a couple of wires from the engine compartment to the interior side of the firewall. What is the best way to route the wires? Can I go through the terminal block opening or will that lead to chafing and shorting? There is a small hole at the left lower corner just above the frame bolt. Can that be used? How is the wire from the light bale to the dome light routed?

No matter how you run it I would put the wires in a loom.

I understand the dome light wire runs up the windshield post but where does it pass through from the engine compartment to the interior windshield post? Where is the firewall pass through?

Check out a wiring diagram (try your instruction book for the car, you do have one?) and you will see the wire goes from the terminal box to the wiper and then to the dome light switch and finally to the dome light.

What are the wires for, or where are they coming from?

Yes, you can run them through the terminal box without a problem if they aren't too heavy, or in a loom.

1ea 14 gage wire from my starter batt terminal to the ignition switch dedicated with a 20 amp fuse for the electronic ignition.

2 ea 18 gage wires from the add on rear turn signal lights going to the turn signal switch on the steering column.

Sorry, my mistake. The dome light will be connected to the terminal box. I was confused because I decided to make the cowl lights dedicated turn signal lights and so will be connected to the turn signal harness and not the light bale. That wire will be terminated. Still need to run the rear turn signal wires through into the cabin interior. Not good to route them through the terminal box I suspect.

I would bring the turn signal wires through the corner hole by the body mounting bolt that you mentioned.
