Nylon Cam Gear Does someone make a Nylon Cam Gear for a model A?
I have heard they do pretty well in a Model T engine... |
Re: Nylon Cam Gear I hope not! After a lot of thermal cycles nylon teeth get brittle and snap off in freezing weather. GM had many nylon toothed timing chain sprockets in the '70's and I changed more than my share- some of them twice on the same vehicle! Of course the loading on an A or T cam gear is way less than a V8 with 200 lb springs.

Re: Nylon Cam Gear I've heard the opposite about a nylon gear In a T. But I don't have any experience with them. I would only ever put an aluminum gear or the bronze set in an A engine.

Re: Nylon Cam Gear I agree with Logan !!! replacing timing gears is a pain. Metal gears should last a lifetime or more. Thats all that I use on mine.
