License Plate Toppers

Our club is thinking about having a license plate topper created with the club logo on it. At regional meets I've seen a few cars with club toppers, but when I searched the Ford Barn threads I could only find one small thread from the early V8 board that didn't help.

Have any of you had toppers made? Who did you go through? Or, if anyone has had experience with a "topper company" who do you recommend?

Thanks in advance,

Robert

Try doing a search here as I remember it was discussed previously.
Google O'Brien truckers, they may be able to help.

You might try asking this over on the HAMB. I know they sell a batch from time-to-time. Or maybe PM Ryan, since its his deal.Usually sold out pretty quickly , too. Good Luck.:)

I'm thinking that O'brien Truckers is the outfit that does the HAMB toppers. DD

Telluride Rotary Club had these reproduced as a fund raiser by a company on the east coast advertising in Hemmings. O'Brian would certainly be another good choice. He did the Georgetown Hill Climb topper. These are not cheap!

The small HAMB tag topper is made by O'Brien. Yes, they usually sell-out very quickly when Ryan announces them. It comes in a rough cast finish and requires a bit of sanding/polishing/paint to look like the one below on my '34. Speedway Motors offers several of the larger tag toppers that attach to both license plate bolts. You might inquire as to who manufactures theirs.

The trouble with topper for A's, is that the plates hang on brackets from the tops. Later cars supported the plate from the bottom and "toppers" worked out. Seen some excellent headlight bar mounted location plates and a few cool radiator plates, but not so many Toppers that work on Model A's

Re: License Plate Toppers

I had a topper made for my local Model A club. Here's the procedure:
> Make a full size sketch of the topper and indicate where there will be color;
> Find a shop that will make the topper from aluminum;
> Have a proof sample made and iterate it until it meets your expectation. The pattern maker may make producibility changes to your design;
> Be sure to show it to your club for their approval;
> Buy more than your immediate need to accommodate new club members.
