Was Any Glue Used in the Model A's?
 

First I was wondering if Briggs and Murray used any glue in the wood joints, and then I got to wondering if any glue was used in the Model A?

The sound deadening pads in my 29 Tudor were glued in place, but I can't think of any other place in the Model A's where glue was used.:confused:

In the bodies of the Fordors, there was quite a bit of wood. Know when reproducing the arm rests in the rear, seat frames and some of the other parts, these items were laminated in some cases, then mortise and tenon joints .

Isn't the floor board plywood? There's glue to bond the ply.

I don't believe the originals used plywood, mine are slats.

Not George is correct on the floorboards being made of slats. I had the difficult task, (at least for me) to rebuild the wood in a 28 Briggs Body 60A Fordor. The wood in the sub rails was laminated using glue, and the mortise and tenon joints also had a form of glue. Not a good glue in my opinion, but probably the best they had for the time.

During 1929 Ford started using plywood.
