i know there are several ways around mounting a fan on an 8ba in a 41 ford ,i choose to retain the original 41 fan and had a machine shop make an adaptor plate and mated it to the 8ba pulley,i still have over 1" clearence between fan and rad .hope this helps someone else,p/s this may work on a 40 ford also..al

How thick was the adapter plate?
Did you have any balancing issues?
Are those fan blades bent or are my eyes fooling me?
Thanks.

the plate is 5/16 thick, tapped for 5/16 fine tread as original, the blades are straight and has no balance or vibration issues...the plate fits into a recess in the pully and the fan hub has a small lip that centers itself to the adaptor plate so its prefectly centered...al

Re: 8BA in 41 ford fan fix

On my 39 with an 8BA, I simply used the 39 pulley and bolted the fan directly to it.

i was informed there would be a belt misalignment useing the 39/41 crank pulley with my application and would also have to remove a spacer or seal bushing, just what i was told.al

I kept the 8BA sleeve and trimmed the back of the pulley to align the belt. The sleeve could be removed, however that is not easy to do after the engine is assembled.

did the same for the 8CM in my 41 truck, but had to reposition the belt pully to get the correct alignment for one belt drive

the pulley is stock 8ba out of a 50 pu,so there was never any belt alignment issues, i had the shop make me a round plate made out of 5/16 flat stock tthat fits into the pulley recess, was drilled and tapped to match the fan hub,the hole deal cost me 50 bucks...al

So the original 40 fan was a 4 blade for a car and truck? The pulley looks trick by the way

the fan has six blades not 4 , just looks like 4 in pic, this sucker really draws air even at idle... i think both cars and trucks had 6 blade fans in 40-41
