Carb jet gaskets

on the Zenith...
1) Should there be a gasket between the body and the compensator jet?
2) Should there be a gasket between the body and the removable brass GAV seat?

Re: Carb jet gaskets

There should be a jet gasket installed with the main jet, cap jet, comp jet, and GAV brass seat. There should not be a gasket installed with the idle jet as the threads are a pipe thread.

Thanks Tom. That must be the most rapid trans-Atlantic Q and A. Thanks!

Re: Carb jet gaskets

John,

A common problem is that some carbs end up with 2 or even 3 gaskets under the Main Jet. This lowers the Main jet and it does not work as designed. The M J should be taller than the Cap Jet as designed.

Good idea to use a flashlight or torch and check inside the M J "port" for extra gaskets when ever you install a gasket.

Many times the gasket sticks inside the casting and folks add another thinking that they lost the original gasket.
