battery tray and mount kit I just got my battery tray and stud mounting kit from Snyders. This is going into a car that doesn't have one yet and I want to install it correctly but have no instructions. Can any one send me some pictures of the setup? Thanks.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...g/2845901d.jpg I thought someone would have posted a good picture by now, but then I didn't have any pictures either. I took these two pictures yesterday of an original battery mount in a 1928 frame. This has the forged mounts, so will be a little different than your repro mount. Some repro mounts (maybe all, I don't know for sure) have a poor bend in the top mount to frame area, and they can only be used by mounting on the underside of the frame rail. The ground strap is missing, but you can see the ground cable mounting bolt head in the top picture to the left of the empty hole. The empty hole is where the ground strap mounted on the early 28's when the battery posts were on the other corners. |
Re: battery tray and mount kit Tom, maybe I am missing something, but how would you put a nut on those posts?

Re: battery tray and mount kit http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...eryholder1.jpg
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...eryholder2.jpg http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...eryholder3.jpg http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...eryholder4.jpg Here's 4 pictures comparing an original mount to a repro mount. As you can see by the incorrect bend at the top, the repro mount can NOT be mounted on top of the lower frame lip, as the original is mounted. The only way to use this repro battery tray is to mount it to the bottom side of the lower frame lip. Maybe these pictures will help you with the installation of your new battery mount. |
Re: battery tray and mount kit Thanks Tom, those pictures are very helpful. Big difference in the repop one from the original one like you said. Mine mounted very sloppy. I will take your advice and mount it under the frame. On a good note, I was able to start the motor for the first time this weekend. It runs like a dream.
