Nice work! You made it all?

Re: New Upholstery

Yes Will. It's all cut and sew. I was able to locate a very nice "Bedford" cord that is 100% polyester. Not "correct for a 30 Tudor but we love it. Did the woodgraining a number of years ago so it really pops now. New glass and interior for around $1100. Granted It was all wholesale pricing on the fabric. But all in all SaraJayne and I are very pleased. Glad ya like it.

I used my old and very worn interior as a base but pretty much had to make my own patterns on the fly. I had two careers. One as licensed Funeral Director and also journeyman Upholsterer. I discarded the front seat cushion springs and designed my own spring bases and then custom engineered the foam rubber. Tudors are known to be uncomfortable and I did not really care for going with late model Bucket seats. Glad you like my work.

Thank You everyone for your kind comments. I have not done any upholstery in 18 years. As far as shop space I'm like many of you just a two car attached garage that I share with the Wife. It was difficult too with physical issues but I was bound and determined to get this project done . it has taken 5 months. Not J/S correct but pretty damn close. Thanks again!

WOW! You sure are a professional. I have tried many things but can honestly say Upholstery is not one of them and probably never will. I am a woodworker so I replaced the ribs in my Roadster top but it is now at an Upholstery shop waiting for new canvas. Wish you were closer.....I love to watch and learn....lol.

Nice work - now you're only half done. You still have a 30 coupe to do. Bill

PS: your work shows great skill.

I know its not a Model A but here is a really nice 51 ford woodie wagon the guy that owns the car did the upholstery and the whole car himself, it just goes to show you that if you put your mind to it anything is possible, my dad did the woodgraining its a 2 tone curly maple on top ribbon mahogany on bottom enjoy:cool:

You should save the patterns and sell copies. I too am doing an interior from scratch. I too am a former Funeral Director. We both know where we learned to hand stitch. LOL.

LOL........I always told my friends I was always stitchin up something. Had the interior been original I would have tried to make proper patterns. Like I mentioned it was very old and quite tattered. I did some research and discovered who did the prior interior. When they did it they did a damn good job.

Beautiful interior. Good upholstery is the finishing touch that makes a car really stand out.

Re: New Upholstery

What a fantastic job! I'm sure your experience as an upholsterer didn't hurt. Except for the front seats, my 29 Tudor came without an interior. Current plan is to buy a kit from LB or Classtique and take a shot at doing the install myself. I do plan on having a local shop install the headliner. I feel that a poor job there will show the most.
