I had to use my $5 garage sale lighter socket compressor today. I stopped by the gas station, but their air hose only let out more air from the tire. I pulled the car off to the side and got my compressor out of the trunk. It's slow, but it got the tire aired up.

Got this Peak Battery Booster with Compressor at Pep Boys Auto chain store on sale for $39. It topped up 16 under-inflated modern tires and had plenty of reserve left. Also jumped my daughters very dead 12 volt battery. The port to charge the unit is a 3 prong 110 volt male plug outlet to which you attach an extention cord. First time I went to charge it the 3 prong port pushed inside the housing rendering the unit useless. Read online this has happened to most owners of this unit and probably should be a major recall. I took it apart and cut the wires thereby eliminating the male port and soldered on an extension cord with a male end to plug into the wall for charging. Otherwise the unit has worked well for two years now. These type of units have to be charged frequently to maintain the battery life. You cannot leave it in the trunk of your car for 6 months and expect it to maintain a charge.

Most of those "portable" tire inflaters use the cigarette light outlet in a 12 volt car. Most Model A's are 6 volt. I think the battery operated ones are the way to go. This one looks pretty cool:

Mark,

I think your car would look good with dual side mounts, then the problem goes away. The only problem you can solve with a compressor is a slow leak but you should have noticed that before you left. Although you can patch a tire along side of the road most of us don't do that anymore. I would forget the compressor and be sure to carry my AAA card. By the way, when is the last time you had a flat that could be fixed with an air compressor?

I use a bicycle pump.

Cordless

Quiet

Has a built in pressure gauge

Model A tires are fairly low volume so pumping them up is not too bad...

Get one with a long enough hose so it will reach if the stem is at the top of the tire:)
