Re: Clutch Release Shaft Bushing tool

On a bushing like that where a press is near impossible, a piece of all thread, some washers and nuts make a good crude press and avoid damaging the bushing edges.

Just did this job as well. The install driver from Third Gen was out of stock a few weeks ago when I ordered parts so I ended up using a socket that matched the I.D. of the bushing, a larger socket for the driver and hammered them home. For removal of the old bushings I used a sharp cold chisel, a few good whacks and they ripped and came right out. I agree with Bored&Stroked, I ended up needing to hone mine until I got the perfect fit.

Thanks all. I ended up doing a combination of all the above. Mangled the bushings getting them out. Used the bushing driver to install. Used a hose clamp around the outboard side of the bushing to keep it from splitting. Used a combination of tapping and pressing with a clamp. Job done. Yay!!

Thanks,
Nick
