52Merc-

I am fairly sure any 1936-'55 will work for you. That being the case a lot of good use American-made ones are probably sitting on shelves collecting dust. If you get a chance but an ad in the "wanted" section. I sure you will get several responses very quickly.

You can also have your original unit repaired. I think Don Baxter of Baxter Ford Parts in Lawrence, KS does this.

Many times the only problem with a sending unit is corrosion on the contacts. The top of the sending unit can be pried off and the contacts cleaned with an electronic contact cleaner.

I just thought I would share with you on how I delt with mine. There is a company called Teleflex and they make sending units and gauges for the marine market. I installed one in my fuel tank and it works perfect. Even though it is 12volt it works and it is accurate. another company that makes them is Sceptor. These units are universal and adjustable, with the 5 or 6 screw mount I forget, but there was no drilling into the tank. A perfect souloution for an agrivating problem $32.00 Best part it works with my original gauge.
