Re: E-85 question
I sure wouldn't allow that junk in my car. You'll pay more due to lower power, less fuel mileage, and shorter engine life. Even the newer cars that are designed for it suffer. A couple guys have reprted that their flex fuel engine needed to be overhauled after just 60,000 miles.

Re: E-85 question
I tried it a couple years ago in my 29 pickup. It ran like crap, no power. Was glad when it was time for regular 10% ethanol gas. Power came back. I never will try that again! The best stuff is 100% gas if you can find it. mike

Re: E-85 question
I recently added an AP on my I-phone that shows me where ethanol free gas is being sold, nation wide and nearest my current location and in some case even the price.

Re: E-85 question
The only place around me that sells gas without ethanal is on the water. (i,m in a boat town ) Only reason i ask about the E-85 is because i was reading through an old copy of Model A Times and they said is was ok to run it . i wanted to see everyones thoughts and see who really ran it. thanks

Re: E-85 question
One other item is that alcohol is extremely corrosive, not good.

Re: E-85 question
^^^^^ This
I have no choice here in the Houston area but to run 10% ethanol gas in my cars. You should see the chalky white corrosion on the underside of the gas filler cap on the A from the ethanol. I have seen the same corrosion on the inside of the filler necks of my modern cars. And this is from just 10% ethanol; I can't imagine how much corrosion there would be with 85%.

Re: E-85 question
SEMA has filed suit in federal court to stop E-85. The damage to my Mercury outboard from E-10 cost me $1300. The fastest and quickest way to lower fuel prices and increase supplies is to simply have one formula coast to coast. Auto manufacturers are pleading with the EPA to adopt the California formula to no avail.

Re: E-85 question
E-85 is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, it would require much larger carb jets to make it run right.
