John Walton's Truck Information
Ok, Oh Knowledgeable Ones - I have been approached by a gentlemen who says he has the truck that was used on the Waltons TV Show. He says it is a 1928 1 1/2 ton Model AA with single rear wheels. He also said it was used in the movie Roger Rabbit.
My question would be - given that the guy doesn't have any paperwork for showing these assertions - how would I know if what he were telling me is true? I saw on one of the forum responses that someone worked on the Waltons TV show for a number of years. Any insight? Thanks. |

Re: John Walton's Truck Information
Regardless of the TV show connection or possibility of, if it is a correct AA express, you should buy it if the price is right. In the AA world, the demand is high and the supply is very low for this bodystyle.

Re: John Walton's Truck Information
Here's one way: Have the guy produce close-up screenshots from the TV show that clearly show verifiable nicks, scratches, wood chips, anomalies, modifications, etc. Compare the screenshots to the actual truck. Are they undeniably the same?

Re: John Walton's Truck Information
if there's no paper work, it's just another AA single axle, which is still valuable. They were mostly all painted green so he can't just be going off of the color and saying it was in the show. He needs to have some documentation.

Re: John Walton's Truck Information
I've also heard and read that the Walton truck was either '28 or '29.. Maybe there more than one used during the series.. I don't know if there were any differences between the 2 years..

Re: John Walton's Truck Information
The Waltons express AA was a 1929 with six slot wheels.

Re: John Walton's Truck Information
I'll go against the grain here, but who cares? Whether the president, pope, Elvis or I sat in the vehicle, it doesn't affect the vehicle itself. Its unchanged regardless of the "provenance" of prior ownership. If you are interested in the vehicle consider its purchase [price] only on the merit of the vehicle itself and not whether you can claim it was owned by Henry Ford's gardener.

Re: John Walton's Truck Information
Hello, when I lived in Riverside Ca. about 1973-75, the family next door to us was a orange grove and the son went to high school with my brother . My brothe, father and I had model A's and this friend of my brother got interested also. Long story short he bought an truck like the one used on the Wakton's but lost interest and advertised it and some guys from LA bought it and I have always thought it may have been the truck.
I thought when this kid bought the truck it was not that desirable , but to each his own. |

Re: John Walton's Truck Information
I believe there were more than one used. Go to the AA forum and ask that question. It has been discussed in depth there.
