Marsden Nuts
I am about to check my bearings and want to replace the main bearing nuts and possibly the rod nuts with Marsden nuts.
Anyone know where I can obtain them in Canada? I have tried Fastenal, Brafasco, Ford and GM dealerships, engine rebuilders etc. No go. I contacted the manufacturer (Mor Loc) and they won't sell to me and couldn't provide a Canadian distributor. I can, however, get nuts that are Class C (I'm told that Class C or Grade C is equivalent to Grade 8) called Top-Loc. Any opinions? Anyone use them? Dick |

Re: Marsden Nuts
You may try your local airfield and ask a mechanic there. I seem to remember the nuts were used on some aircraft.

Re: Marsden Nuts
If worse comes to worse, try McMaster-Carr Industrial Supply in New Jersey... they have an on-line catalog and they have darned-near everything in the world...

Re: Marsden Nuts
This company ships outside USA. Don't know if that will help.

Re: Marsden Nuts
Just found out yesterday that there may be a company in Edmonton. Our local jobber dealer will be confirming with me later today. I will try to get back with you with the information.
It is correct that some of the companys in the US will ship to Canada.....but only to a fastener supply company, not an individual. Working on getting Marsden nuts myself. Mcmaster-Carr don't list the nuts in their catalog, but they do carry several locknuts that might even be superior. |

John, I will visit this website and see what they can do and Glenn C., I will look forward to your further reply. I will also have a look at the McMaster-Carr on line catalogue and check out their locking nuts. Dick |

Re: Marsden Nuts
Our local parts jobber talked to the fastener supplier in Edmonton. They are contacting the manufacturer in Texas for particulars on quantities and pricing, etc.
Due to the high recomendations from our fellow Fordbarners on the use of Marsden Lock Nuts, I am going to hold off on any decision untill our local jobber gets back to me with particulars. |

Re: Marsden Nuts
Are Marsden nuts a better substitute than Nylock nuts? I have been told to avoid Nylock with high oil temps.
What else is there to avoid using a split pin on a big end?

Re: Marsden Nuts
Yes, there is no nylon on Marsden nuts. Another possible substitute is a nut called the Top-Loc.

Re: Marsden Nuts
I installed the Top Loc on my B rebuild. The NAPA guy said they are used a lot on GM engines. I'm not sure about his experience but he convenced me. Rods and mains.
