Default 35 3-window

Sharing my "new to me" 35 3-window. I do have a question on the deluxe grill. Was the whole thing chrome, or just the surround? I have seen them both ways. Mine is red, but was wondering if it was always painted, or just painted over the chrome. I really like the full chrome versions better.

Nice 3 window. As I recall the deluxe grille was all chrome, but grill bars we only polished on the front side. All grilles used the stainless trim pieces.

As Tom indicated, only the raised section of the perimeter and the leading edge of the grille bars were originally polished after dull nickel plating. The satin appearance of the unpolished portions was maintained with the subsequent chrome plating.

Very nice looking '35 three window. Also, it would be nice to see
some pictures of the black, (appears to be a '40) coupe.

From the factory the Deluxe models had a full chrome grill with polishing as described above. The standard cars got painted grills with the stainless being the only bright metal on the grill. Over the decades grill swapping has happened so you now see painted and chrome grills on both Deluxe and Standard cars.

Thanks for the replies. With that info I will see if there is actually chrome under that red paint. Worse thing that happens is it gets repainted. And probably a different color. Also here are a few picts of my other cars, my 40 deluxe coupe and my 47 custom Fordor. Which was originally in Florida, via Califorinia. Just in case anyone knows any history of the car.
