Default dumb brake question

I replaced all the brakes and had the drums turned on my 48 Merc. After installing, I realized I did not know which way to turn the adjusting bolt. Do I turn it up or down to adjust the brake shoe?

You turn it up or down depending on if the shoe is too far away from the drum or too close to the drum.
Place the car on jack stands and while rotating the wheel with one hand, adjust one bolt at a time until the wheel just starts to drag. Back that bolt off just a "hair". Then proceed to the next bolt and do the same thing.
