Oil based air filter
I have a 1937 ford that's as original as possible
The car is running rough especially when I shift from 2nd to 3rd gear I was thinking the the air filter needs to be cleaned I have an oil based air filter system Do you take the air filter apart to clean it and if so how |

Curious to know if you drove the car without the air filter to determine if it (the air filter) might be the cause of the rough running problem???

the sump of the filter is where the dirt ends up, when driving oil is picked up into the mesh, then drains out with the dirt if it is filled properly

If it has the standard type cleaner: To clean it you remove the wing nut from the top and lift the top straight up off the bottom half. You will see oil in the bottom half if it's been serviced correctly. The oil should be drained and the bottom cleaned of the collected dirt, then refilled to the oil level mark. I use auto trans fluid or 10 wt oil in mine. Terry
