Todays Hemmings Daily
So, just read the Hemmings Daily. Open it up scroll down to the two tone 40 coupe, click on that keep scrolling down to the 35 cabriolet at auction. What do you suppose happened to it? Flood car? Somehow exposed to an oil shower? Got me baffled. Low auction estimate. Would love to be at that sale to watch the action... Bill

Re: Todays Hemmings Daily
I'd say a flood. The car behind it has the same mud on it. I'd take a chance on it. Who wouldn't for that price?...... Mark

I agree on the flood the one in front looks as if from same collection.

Re: Todays Hemmings Daily
Flood salvage. $35K repair estimate - still probably not a bad deal.

Re: Todays Hemmings Daily
I'm betting some joker will clean it up and try passing it off as recently restored.

Re: Todays Hemmings Daily
The porsche and the e-type seem to have been in the same location. It's more clear on the other two, but all the dirt and oil seem to have come from above. They are relatively clean where the body curves inwards at the bottom. Most strange, I can't imagine where that much dirt and oil could have come down.
I imagine they will go for a good (high) price. If they are not flood damaged, they look like a good clean up would get them to a good beater/driver condition. The engine looks quite clean in the Ford compared to the upper surfaces. I'd love the Ford. Mart. |

Re: Todays Hemmings Daily
Yeah, I can see where you are coming from. I'd still take a punt on the Ford.

This picture shows how the water level changed at the spare and the rumble lid...

Re: Todays Hemmings Daily
I see Gonzalez is near the Mississippi, so that flood water wouldn't be AS bad as sea water, but the car still needs a complete 100% restoration. I'd say being that body style it would be worth it. A sedan.....probably not......

Re: Todays Hemmings Daily
I would think the price would also be dependent on what shape the car was in "before" the flood.

This 1935 Ford Cabriolet seemed like a very respectable car before it got submerged. |

Re: Todays Hemmings Daily
The insurance auction has been completed already so That means someone bought it and is now selling through the posted site. Original sale was held by Copart insurance auction in Baton Rouge Louisiana. Here is a link to the completed auction which has the same pictures.
