new grill screen design patent pending
I didnt like the look of my radiator it has some bent fins and I think the flat black looks less than appealing. I dont like the appearance of the currently available grill screen. So I set out to make my own grill screen from an idea i had while working on my car. Now Im not sure if I should make more. And what sales price? And I have nothing against you using this idea for your own car for free. But I would ask that you dont sell them for profit as it is my idea. I am asking who would want one now or down the road? what you think I should charge? And if that will line up with what it costs for me to make them. In order to get enough material to make one I needed to purchase enough for a few. I have one for sale on ebay. they are made out of 304 stainless. aluminum is available for about half the material cost but I wanted stainless on my car.

Re: new grill screen design patent pending
here is the grill screen on ebay. for some reason ebay is giving out sky high shipping numbers on my items. if you do want to purchase put in an offer of 74.95 and I will put a flat rate of 15$ shipping inside the U.S. http://www.ebay.com/itm/222337588104...84.m1586.l2649

Re: new grill screen design patent pending
Looks like that will block a significant amount of air flow through the radiator.

Not sure any of us could get our heads around that level of technology.
New idea???? I have a friend who has had a screen like that on his car for at least 15 years. Good luck patenting that one!

Re: new grill screen design patent pending
I know the wire ties look a bit simplistic but this requires no modification or lasting effect to the car. Installs in 10 min once the shell is off. And they can hold the screen tight enough where there isn't any noise created while driving or under a rough idle. And if you wish to remove it later it comes off in a minute.

It looks very nice. I think you could sell them for a reasonable price. I don't think you'll get a patent though. Its been done many times on many different cars, trucks, and tractors. See what level of interest you have on Ebay, maybe try the "make an offer" function to see where they sell at.

Re: new grill screen design patent pending
I'm not belittling your idea but I would point out that Shay roadsters (yes, I know even mentioning them is blasphemy) had such screens 35 years ago.

Re: new grill screen design patent pending
Upon looking at the shays you do have a point there. The post was more about getting the idea to others than selling the one remaining screen I have. And showing how simply it can be mounted. I was thinking about siliconeing it into the grill shell at first but that seemed messy and very hard to remove. I had doubts that the screen would fit in there and the bolts would line up still. OR that the wire ties would get in the way of the grill shell or rattle noisily. ITs about sharing an alternative to what I think are unattractive comparable products like the large stone guard or the mesh over radiator bug screen.

Re: new grill screen design patent pending
I honestly thought the post was your idea of a joke. To suggest you would try to patent it is hilarious. Please don't blame the other Barners for making fun of the idea because if was very funny. If you sold one you were very lucky. You gave us all our laugh for the day and you were serious. Wayne

Re: new grill screen design patent pending
IMO your grill guard idea would work to a much better degree on the 28/29 cars rather than the grill guards the vendors sell. The grill guard the vendor sells rubs up against the headlight bar. I took my vendor supplied guard off and threw it up in the attic for the next swap meet. I do like your idea best.

Nice idea; other mesh design choices, see Mc Nichols Arch. Metals.
