Mushroom valve spring get out
Is there a trick to getting out the valve spring ?
It seems to catch on the mushroom head when bent as far as I would like to bend it .. I think I am on the right track, do I first prise up spring then remove lower spring retainer .....then remove spring , then raise valve and tap down guide a bit, then remove guide retainer, then pull up or push from under to pop valve/ split guides ? I did get one valve out today, but broke the lower guide extensions inside the spring, so must be doing something wrong.... |

Re: Mushroom valve spring get out
Pull out the horseshoe top clips, then the entire valve/guide/spring/bottom keeper come out as an assembly. http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/f...al_tools-1.htm

Re: Mushroom valve spring get out
The spring can be got out with the guide and valve still in place, but it's hard forceful work that will cut your knuckles. It's that mushroom end of the valve that makes it such hard work.
As Brian said, It should come our the top with the horse shoe out the way. Without the proper tools, and if it's been together a good time, learn some new swear words, you'll need um. Martin. |
