Pickup cab interchanging
Hello All
I have a 41 pickup that I bought years ago already disassembled. The cab has floor and sill/rocker damage (rust). How much trouble is the 46-47 cab to install? I'm aware of the difference for the under seat gas tank and seat, but what about where cab mounts to the wood? Thanks Richard |

Re: Pickup cab interchanging
differences are mainly in where/how the front fenders attach to the cab, I have a 47 cab on my 41 and have helped others to the same. what about repairing your 41 cab floor sills? northern classic trucks makes a complete floor assembly plus a lot of other parts

Re: Pickup cab interchanging
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I have a lot of rot in rockers, front and rear cab corners. I'm totally inexperienced in that repair, and a 46 cab has been made available for much less than just the cost of the new sheet metal. Should I be afraid to make the swap to a later cab?

not at all, make a bolt pattern where the fenders attach to the cab and lay on new cab and mark. you will have to remove the fender mounts for the later fenders and then bolt the cab to the frame just like the one you removed. and then you finish the rest and go for a ride.

Re: Pickup cab interchanging
Way back in the dark ages (1957) a friend of my Dad's had a '36 wrecker. He installed a '49 cab on it. My dad had the guy make him a trailer out of the back end of the '49 PU.
