On the streets of Dallas

Dallas, Oregon, that is. On a return trip home from a tour I stopped in the old town for a picture of my car. Neat old buildings, nicely preserved. Also a few miles north I spotted this Case steam tractor in front of a vintage building. Backroads offer some interesting scenes.

That is one of the best "back to the day" pics I have seen. No modern cars around or people in "todays" clothes to spoil it!

Here are my "period" correct photos taken on a winters day in Newtown CT. Notice the snowtires on my 36 fordor. It was a daily driver when I was in college (the 1970s).

Nice pictures, and I do enjoy old building much more than modern. I used to like it in the 50's and early 60's when you could drive around and see old cars and tractors parked beside the barn or garage.

I think those photos were taken not far from my uncle's house at 80 main street. He is dead now along with my aunt, but I think my cousin still owns the house and his kid lives there.

From the highway, turn right at the flagpole and go down main street past the funeral home, and after the road curves, #80 is on the right, across the street from what was a gas station, then an ambulance garage. It is a nice old house.

Tiny, was it you who did some photo work with Snapseed, and alerted us to that app? That's what I used. It's a great app but only works on ipads, not imacs, which makes its tricky for me, but fun anyway.

Guesstimation on the year would be between 1904 and 1910... (doesn't have the semi-circular chain guides on the front axle). That said, I'm not as much of a Case geek as some people I know, could probably get a more accurate date within a few days. Did you grab the serial number?
