A Tease
Well it doesn't appear there is any great group enthusiasm for putting together a photo data base of all the color combinations available on Model A Fords. So I decided to take another approach, which involved another of my hobbies - computer graphics.
You won't be able to see every color option on each year/body style, but you will at least be able to check out every color combination on a model A Ford - a 1929 Tudor. A 3D Lightwave model of a 1929 tudor will be placed on a turn table in a virtual period show room and I'll create an animation of it rotated 360 degrees. I'll "repaint" the tudor (I have scanned in all the MAFCA color chips so the colors will be fairly accurate.) and create an animation for every color combination. I don't believe this forum has the ability to handle video so the videos will have to go up on You Tube. The good news is that You Tube can stream 4K video so the animations will be very high quality. This will not happen right away. I have to reaquire my Lightwave skills. 3D software is one of the hardest computer software types to master. And if you don't use it you definitely loose it! But I find it fun, challenging, and good for my brain, so I'll push on. I still have to model the show room and all its contents, and refine my lighting, but I thought I'd share this VERY early rendering. Much more to come . . . Re: A Tease
That sounds good. I'd like to be able to see STD colors.

Source: Judging Standards Eventually the goal is to render all the color combinations as stated in the JS for all years, but of course shown on this one 3D model. BTW I won't be including the pin stripe in the renders (too much work), but I can change the wheel color to give a feel for the pin stripe color. |

Photo documentation of colors not something easily done by us amateurs. You have ambient lighting that effects the colors, you also have the camera, the monitor you are looking at, and the printer you print from. Best would be a rough idea on what it looks like.

Re: A Tease
FWIW, I would venture a guess that over half of the projects we do gets a 'spray-out' with the actual colors used on a panel. Usually our panel is 8x10 inches so it will fit in a Fed-Ex envelope yet still be large enough to get a big view. What is surprising is that often times when the true colors are evaluated on a panel vs. seeing a picture of that color combination, the customer changes their mind.

Re: A Tease
OK, I've added the ceiling lights and have gotten the chrome looking decent, so here is another test render of the tudor in Rose Beige and Seal Brown. I rendered at 4K resolution, but the Barn can't handle pics that big this is jus a part showing just the car.

Re: A Tease
I thank you for your efforts. I am looking forward to the completed project, but realize that it is a time consuming hobby. There will always be critics no matter what a person does, but don't let that change your mind. The majority of the FordBarn community will be appreciative of your contibution. Don/WI
