Seem's that seller only care about the $$$
I have question's about some seller's I have purchased from hear on Fordbarn & Ebay ( over the last few years),, there has been more then a few times I have purchased a Item , some rare , hard to find or just a run of the mill item and it arrives with No protective packaging and its Damaged or not as-decried buy seller no matter how many Question you ask , or the photos you are shown are taken in a way that hides damage ,
1 Why do seller not take pride in there item that has been sold and have Received payment , go the " extra mile "to package the item so that it doesn't get damage in shipping , On eBay there is "Recourse " ( eBay or PayPal ) that can be taken if damaged in shipping , I feel that the Item is still the seller property until it arrives safely to buyer, Hear on the Ford Barn sellers want's a USPS money order ,No problem! But buy a few , same thang Has happen , Damage in shipping because no Protection packing .Seller marks " FRAGILE " no packing , like that matter's!!! Looks like carrier played Soccer with it, Myself I sold a few item's , I over package the Item , I have even made a wooden crate to ship a fire wall , I received one ,one time just wrapped in newspaper, DAMAGED ( fire wall) I am convinced that it was ran over with a fork lift by Carrie . 2. Item not as described buy seller even when you ask all the Questions , or there is damage Not show by seller's photo's or the extra one you requested. 3. Or seller will not insure or let you insure the package ( $50 - $ 700 or so) Hear on the Ford barn , should we let other's know about Problems with a Seller & or A buyer ? |

Re: Seem's that seller only care about the $$$
It seems the post office has found a way to loose or damage goods no matter how well packed.
I have not had that kind of trouble from Fed Ex or UPS. You are right about the pictures can be very deceptive and selectively taken to hide flaws. |

I have not had a problem here or on ebay with receiving damaged or not as described items. Sorry to hear that it has been an issue for you.

Re: Seem's that seller only care about the $$$
I want to be clear , Just a few seller 's , ( but not 2 or 3)
about 40 out of around 285 purchases. & it seem to be a item that is hard item to find. Almost all are shipping USPS & it's a headache for a damage claim, USPS alway say insufficient packaging, and I will say that 99% of the time it is seller's Fault & USPS will not pay for the Damage nor seller . |

Stuff always looks 3 times better than it really is in the pics.
Put it down to experience. |

Tom and Pooch summed it up.. I have certainly been scammed on Ebay but never on the Barn and nowhere near the numbers 19ED30 is talking. To get taken 40 times out of 285 is enough to make you start shopping in person. Wayne

Re: Seem's that seller only care about the $$$
40 out of 285 is a high number, but we must consider that we all are not expectant to the same degree....
purchasing a used part is subjective-if you feel that it is not working out for you on the Barn, then make your purchases where you are somewhat safeguarded, such as ebay or using of paypal. I myself have had bad experiences there as well, so nothing is fool proof. getting back to the original question-no I do not believe this is the place to complain about a purchase one is unhappy with-that just puts this site in a derogatory light. I have found old car people to be among the fairest and kindest. If you really have a problem, it should be taken up with the seller and I believe the majority of sellers here will be more then fair with a return. |

Re: Seem's that seller only care about the $$$
Sorry to hear you have had some bad experiences. I have been selling parts for 12 years and always use packing material although it is sometimes a real pain to keep supplied with. I have decent sources for keeping that cost down. I do not think everyone that sell parts has a supply that is reasonable as compared to the narrow profits. Buying packing materials from Staples or simular stores anyone would make any money. Just my observation. Rod

Re: Seem's that seller only care about the $$$
I just read an article written by a ex ups driver, loader, marking fragile on the package means nothing,he says buy one of those small foam coolers and ship your fragile parts in them wrapped heavily in packing material, include the cost when quoting price to buyer.

Re: Seem's that seller only care about the $$$
Good packaging is important, no matter how you ship.
I sell a few items on FB and a lot of Ebay. I always take extra care in packaging. I almost always use recycled packaging and always ship USPS. I get very positive reviews on shipping and packaging on eBay. I also try to take very good photos and accurately describe the item I am selling. Not to brag, but I want satisfied customers. It is not worth it to me to have an unsatisfied customer. |

Re: Seem's that seller only care about the $$$
Good advice from all.
I agree with Ronn's response to your original question. The place to deal with the issue is with the seller. I've found that even with no return policies if you deal with facts, offer a reasonable remedy, and are calm the sellers will make things right. Some sellers don't even know what the item really is, its' real condition or how it is supposed to work. As to the no insurance issue, it should be a red flag. You are paying for the item and the shipping, (and there is no such thing as a free shipping) what should the seller care. |

I have heard that if you mark your packages, "FRAGILE", they throw them underhand. The rest, they throw, overhand.

Re: Seem's that seller only care about the $$$
Received a package a couple of days ago. Box looked perfect on the side that had the "Fragile" sticker on it. The other side of the box looked like it had been drug behind the truck while driving thru a mud puddle and then beat all to hell!
My wife commented that they should have put a sticker on both sides! Fortunately, the contents were OK.

Re: Seem's that seller only care about the $$$
I would ask the seller to take the item to UPS or FedEx store and have them pack it, you'll cover the cost and you'll never have to deal with that type of issue again. Yes you'll hav e cover the cost of packing it...
