You might get lucky enough to find your same or similar diecast vehicle (I assume) on "EPay" as a "parts car" or a good one for a greatly reduced price compared to new.

Finding a place that can do good repair work on zinc die castings is very difficult. However, I have read somewhere that a good way to repair the pitting that so often deteriorated castings have is to give the casting a good copper plating job, then pits etc can be filled with solder, dressed back, recoppered, and rest of plating process performed. Good luck!

Brian, good suggestions but I think it best to drill out the corroded areas first and then follow your other steps, much the same as a dentist repairing a tooth. Get rid of the bad, before adding the good. Some solders will have too low a melting point and may not be suitable, possibly the plater could recommend a good choice. Years ago Certanium Alloys 34C was used but it's been off the market for years.

Looks like it might be available in the UK from what I see on a quick Google search.

I was unaware of muggyweld. Sure looks like a great product from viewing their website!

Thanks ITSA52,
Tried the muggyweld on one part and found a local plater that
was advertising as a powder coater.
My part turned out really nice so I did the other one.
The only problem is the plater talked me into trading his diecast
repairs for my plating. Going back to work sure cuts down on
'me time' with my trucks.
