My first thought is reduction in fuel flow either from plugged fuel filter, problem with pump, or fuel line. Test by disconnecting line from carb and running engine with the end going into a bucket to see that there is good flow (should squirt a foot or so each pump cycle) then putting a pressure gauge on that end to see if there's 1-3.5 lbs pressure. If all is well there it's something else like ignition advance in distributor.

Try screwing in mixture screws on carb base. If you can turn them in without engine dying, most likely power valve failure. Just a starting point.

what kind of air filter are you using? Those cheap little chrome air cleaners from Taiwan do not breath! they choke the car down and eventually foul the plugs.

Well, I had that problem with my 40, I've never run a hood in 35yr's. Wife and I had gone to a get together a few years ago in the fall, on the way home it got real cold and started to spit snow. About 35 miles from home on the pike going about 65, I let my foot off the gas and the pedel and it stuck. With the hood off I could see the carb on top of my McCollet Super Charger, The frost was all around the bottom of the carb, SO I kept going and the engine started slowing down, when I got off the exit about one mile from home I was down to 20mph, I rolled into my yard, pushed the button for the garage door to open, drove in the garage, left the engine running, got out and watched the engine running, it kept speeding up, I had to run around and turn the key off. The carb had iced up and the throttle bore was only about big my little pinky. No heat riser to the carbs on top of a Super Charger. Walt

I think Walt might have it.
Conditions have been ideal for icing.

I had a mid eighties Ford Tempo that this problem was pretty frequent this time of year.It was a 4 cylinder carbureted engine and cold moist air would ice up the carburetor till it choked to a stop, guess it was common on this year. Always think of that car when I watch one of my favorite movies Spirit of St.Louis when Lindbergh is trying to backfire the carburetors to unblock the ice. This will probably show up on our flatheads more often with the guys who have tried to cool the carburetor base for summer driving, spacers , etc.

Sometimes it's hard to describe the symptoms, but you have to get a little more specific to get good advice.

If I went to the doctor and told him/her I had no power going up hills, anything from vitamins or cardiac surgery could be prescribed.

Well if a fuel or ignition problem symptoms will not go away untill fixed but if icing problem it will cure itself..Probably not good enough weather yet for another drive? Would still like to hear if anything was done to eliminate heat riser to carburetor or if others who have added spacers for summer driving have had more frequent icing issues.

We need more info than a 59AB in a 34 truck, that's like asking how high is up, What carb, what dist, what fuel pump, What intake manifold on it. Come on give us something to go on other wise where just hunting in the dark. ken ct.

Check the point gap, both sides should be .015 on used points /.016 on new set. ken ct. Are you getting gas to the carb?? Weak spark to plugs sounds like in dist.
