Default ford maroon

Does anyone have a paint formula for Ford Maroon color as per Marco"s website?I have seen pics of several A's in ford maroon, some look dark like blackcherrry and some as on Marco's site look lighter.I would like to paint my 31 ccpu the same as pictured on Marco's site.

Have you used the search feature to find "maroon paint code"?

I just did it and found 10 threads with nice pictures and information.

Mine is painted with 68 Mustang maroon. I could get you the code for it if you want.

Have you thought about the 1930 commercial color "rubelite red". It's a dark red, but not as dark as the maroon.

One of the biggest surprises for me at my first "national" Model A meet (early 90's)was looking at a row of 6-8 top level blue ribbon cars painted Ford Maroon being judged. Each one was a different shade. There was a big difference between the lightest to the darkest version. When I talked to the owners each one claimed that their car was the correct original shade of maroon and the other Model A's maroon was wrong.

Mine is 1978 Ford Dark Red code 2 M. If you check 1978 Ford colors you'll find it.

Try .www.tcpglobal.com. They mix to match original color chips. You will most likely discover that the original color is much to dark for your liking. None of the samples shown are dark enough to be even close to the original. Gar Williams

Here's a 2010 Hershey pic of an original unrestored low mileage(15k miles) 31 roadster that I saw on dsiplay but not for sale. Original maroon paint and everything else except for the top etc. Picture quality is not the best- some wrong camera settings -hope it's good enough and loads correctly.

Camera settings, lighting, and each individuals computer monitor is going to give different "picture" of the same image. JMO Remember the "apple green" wheel thread??

I prefer to stick with the original factory colors. My 30 roadster is thorne brown but looks like a dark maroon with a tint of brown.

Here, this might give you a number to cross reference. Save it to your computer and then view it with window's photo viewer or the like. You can zoom in to read it then.

I will suggest you go to your PPG dealer and ask for Model A Ford Maroon. They have it in their computer for your car. We have been working with the color library in Strongsville Ohio to get all these colors availble to all the dealers. You can get it in Concept Urethane (better more expensive) or Omni (Cheaper) urethane enamel. If we all go to the PPG dealers we will hopefully have abetter chance of getting all the same shades. Using Mustand colors will never give us the correct shades,
If they cannot get the number have them call the Color library in Strongs ville Ohio.
please let me know if you have any problems,
Ken
