Ron, you might try contacting "Howells Sheetmetal Co". I did a quick search of their website and did not find the turtle deck lid, but I think they do make them. They are near Beaumont Texas.

Ron, you could give this guy a call. He runs across a lot of old iron. He may not have what you need, but he turns up a lot of stuff and he's local to you.

In the meantime of not being able to find a turtledeck, why not build yourself a wooden pick-up box for the time being? That way you can drive/use the car until you find a decent turtledeck and you don't have to settle for beaten-up, rusted-out junk. You can find a set of plans and buy the hardware from suppliers for carriage builders. Don't forget to cruise the classifieds over on the HAMB, I see turtledecks over there more than anywhere else.

There is a link in the thread to photobucket where he has a good group of pictures of the plans posted. You can buy most all of the steel parts from different carriage building suppliers. The photos are real nice and the dimensioned drawings are real good in details. Once you have the plans, you can build the bed how you want it to look, and you can also build it out of whatever material you want. If it were mine, I would build the bed and use while I kept looking for a good turtledeck, but that is just one mans opinion.

The thought has come to mind, a pick up box. If I go that route it would be metal. This is one I built for an A pick up.
The only over the counter item on it is the tailgate hinges. Ron |
