Default Front Door Latch Removal ‘29 Phaeton

I am having difficulty removing the front door latch assembly. Appears the side curtain snap is preventing removal. Does this have to come out? It looks like it might be swedged into the door panel.

Yes, the side curtain socket has to be removed. There is a tab that runs across the top of the latch assembly, and as you slide the assembly out the tab has to pass over the area that the back of the socket juts out into.
