1936 Coupe Door Striker Question
I found a lot of questions in the archives about the door latch, but I have a question about the opposite side - the striker that mounts on the B pillar. There is nothing in the B pillar for the striker screws to thread into, on either driver's side or passenger's side.
Can anyone tell me what should be there, a threaded plate, separate nuts & washers or ???? Thanks in advance for any information you could provide. |

Re: 1936 Coupe Door Striker Question
Stamped steel plate with trapped nuts. Plate has ridges in the middle like the striker plate.
I will take a picture of one in my parts box when I can get to it

Re: 1936 Coupe Door Striker Question
Note that the 3 window and 5 window have different hole centers, the strikers and backing are therefore different.

Re: 1936 Coupe Door Striker Question
Thanks for responding, everyone ! Much appreciated.
I never imagined anyone would re-pop those, so I'm a bit embarrased I didn't look before posting, so thanks Randy for pointing them out, as well as not bagging me for not looking at Drake's !. I'll check Drake's next to see if he has any in stock and if they'll fit a 3W coupe. Karl Wescott, thanks for pointing out there's a difference between 3w & 5w coupes. I would have never guessed that. If all else fail, they don't look difficult to make, so I'll make them, myself,if necessary. Thanks again, everyone! |

Tack welded the d-nuts in the original plate on the passenger side because they were spinning in the plate. Then painted the vehicle, and then when chasing the threads............yup, weld broke. Thought about drilling straight through and using a nut on the back, but could not find a proper long enough screw. Yeah, I know I could have created a longer screw. My order has been created. |

Re: 1936 Coupe Door Striker Question
Just wanted to follow up and let y'all know that Bob Drake had the striker plate mount which was correct for a 3w coupe (.700" ctr.-ctr.).
Thanks again for the help. -Bob |
