Re: water pump leaking
If you are talking about the small by-pass elbow on the water pump you unscrew it from the pump. If it is bad, new ones are available.

The nipple attaches to the WP with two cap screws. The tube on the thermostat housing is either cast into the housing or later design has a press-in tube. Does that help?

Re: water pump leaking
The tube (nipple) for the heater hose unscrews. It is usually a bent tube.

The heater outlet fitting (on the intake manifold) will screw out as Paul said - If you are describing the heater return nipple on the pump casting itself, it also screws in/out (see 2nd photo).
