Re: Charlie NY says hello ALL
OK. I'll come out and say it : Isn't it time for him to be reinstated? He's done his penance and I've spoken to him a couple of times and he realizes that he made a mistake. His absence punishes the rest of us more than him. He was a real asset to this forum and is greatly missed.

Re: Charlie NY says hello ALL
x3 Tubman. Jumped into my truck for a 70 mile drive yesterday and it occurred to me that I didn't even give a thought to it not starting or running well, in part down to NY Charlie's setting up the diving helmet distributor. Wasn't there some question as to whether the original brouhaha was concerning poor choice of words rather than mal-intent??

Ya know, I have a lot of respect for Ryan Cochran and the rules he has imposed on us mere mortal, old car guys when it comes to the use of His "Ford Barn" Site. It's His place, and the way I understand it, he's worked very hard for many years now to develop this place, both to supplement his income, and to allow us dudes & a few dudettes a venue to establish & develop communication amongst ourselves about the hobby. And IT's FREE.....is this a GREAT PLACE, or what? Most of us who 'play' here on The 'Barn know THE RULES pretty well by now, especially most of us "old-timers" that have been around since the "Miss Shelly Days", and a few folks even longer than that. MOST folks that frequent here are downright GOOD people.... no question about it! I'd like to think that I am one of the GOOD ones, even though I KNOW that I have screwed the pooch on more than one occasion with my vernacular choices, my attitude toward another member, or some other sin for which I knew I was committing. Yet I chose to continue through with the crime albeit in serious contrast with my better judgement. Mr. Cochran has quite emphatically (and quite deservedly on MY part) brought these faux pas to my attention with a swift kick to go stand in the corner for the duration of whatever length of time He deemed appropriate to possibly get it through MY thick scull that RULES IS RULES! Ryan has been more than fair with The Coopman here, and there almost has to be a time or two when I got lucky. Thank you, Ryan! Because of a lot of what I have said above, I have chosen to remain out of this "Charlie-Man" dispute. As I've said, I respect Ryan's opinions and rules, PERIOD! THIS is his baby, and he has every right to operate his ship as he sees fit. I will only say this one time, and I hope Ryan will forgive this one attempt to ask his indulgence in at least reconsidering the possibility of forgiveness for The "Charlie ny" guy that virtually all of us have come to know and love here on The FordBarn. Yes I saw, and I know what Charlie Schwendler typed on his keyboard that night. The way the words came across JUST IS NOT the Charlie ny that ANY of us know. I know that Charlie Schwendler never meant to say anything like the implications of what was typed-out on Charlie's keyboard that night. Unfortunate things pop out of our fingertips when typing some of these replies. I can be obnoxiously slow about re-reading and re-wording things or phrases into this box. Many's a time that I have actually HIT THE BUTTON, and then realized that I DID NOT type what I meant to say. I've been fortunate a time or two that I was able to edit something before I hurt anyone's feelings. It can get spooky trying to remain cognizant of others' feelings and needs, especially in today's culture. Hoping that all involved here can take ALL of the facts and circumstances into account, and that serious reconsideration might be given to Charlie Schwendler's possible continued tenure here at The FordBarn. Such an occurance would benefit far more than just Charlie ny! I'll live by Ryan's wishes. The Coopman Charlie finessing someone's carburetor on his test engine before sending it back for duty! . |

Very eloquently stated Coopman!!! Nobody here, I think, is questioning Ryan by any means.

Reinstate him.
All of us at one time or another have said or thought things in the heat of the moment and regretted it later. We wouldn't be human otherwise. SwoopNZ. |

Charlie is super, he has done work for us that I can't say enough GOOD things about. He is the best Why keep such a knowledgable guy like Charlie out of the loop? That to me is just ignorant and childish. I learned so much from Charlie, his posts are gold. Bring him back............ |

Re: Charlie NY says hello ALL
Removing someone who has provided as much to the hobby as Charlie has, does more harm to the forum than to him.

Re: Charlie NY says hello ALL
There are a few members posting here that have done their time, been reinstated and contribute to this forum. Maybe charlie ny could be paroled and allowed to help us all.

It may be such a thing also, that he feels the heck with it all I'm not coming back. After the way he got treated.
And I probably wouldn't fault him for feeling that way. |
