Default Early 1928 Model A Brake Equalizer Stop Question

I have an early 28 RPU with the combined parking/service brake equalizer system. It does not have the center frame punch outs cut for stops or the bolt on bracket. I am looking for either the dimensions for the frame punch outs to the bolt on stop bracket. Anyone have any info?

I wonder if someone changed the frame or center cross member. All that is needed should be there. I assume your looking for the brackets that the rear bar swings on. I've seen photos of the center cross member but damned if I know where to find them. Those u-joint clam shells that the shafts fit into are getting rare too. This link has some photos of parts.

This link has photos of the early version.

Between April and Aug of '28 Ford removed the stops on the center crossmember.

If you are referring to the service part, A-2476, when you say "bolt on bracket"; that requires drilling the mounting holes. I think it is detailed in the service bulletins or one of the branch Service Letter books.

Pluck's frame study indicates that Ford originally stamped in the stops. After a time they stopped stamping them due to the change of the E-brake lever and started bolting them but that was also problematic so they started stamping them again. From what I could find, there was likely a period where there were no stops but this led to problems with the swinging equalizer beam so they started bolting the stops but that was likely a stop gap measure till they could start stamping them again.

This system was problematic for Ford and was not legal in the state of Pennsylvania. Ford finally developed the fully independent emergency brake system in late 1928 to allow sales in all 48 states.
