Optima 6 Volt Red Top Battery
What's going on with the Optima 6 Volt batteries? I ordered one from Batteries
Plus months ago and it has never been shipped to me. Every time I call for an update, they just keep saying they are on back order. Ecklers says the same thing. Are they no longer going to be produced? |

Peter, the latest Optima batterys are made in mexico and don't hold up as good as the originals. Be sure to check it out, maybe they're doing you a favor.

Re: Optima 6 Volt Red Top Battery
I ordered a new Optima a couple of months ago, as the original finally wore out after seven years. We use Interstate Battery as our supplier, and it took several weeks to obtain the battery. The benefit also was a lower price than of many of the usual vendors.

knew when any would be available. One guy even called the manufacturer directly and even they couldn't or wouldn't say when any would be available. Thanks for your responses. Peter |

Re: Optima 6 Volt Red Top Battery
Optima lasted 14 months, ORielly auto parts gave me my money back and I bought a conventional 6 volt battery. I was not going to wait on Optima, I am ready to ride.

I have one that's 10 yrs old made in mexico. It's probably not a high demand battery. So harder to find. I hope they still make them. At least at a limited supply. Last edited by Tinker; 08-25-2022 at 04:56 AM. |

Re: Optima 6 Volt Red Top Battery
Optima batteries like any other product manufactured by man occasionally produce a faulty one. Optima batteries are a top notch product and I have had 18 years use out of one and 10 years plus out of others. Why do emergency services use them in their vehicles I wonder. Just because you have had a bad one there is no need to bad mouth them. Many high quality electrical components are manufactured in Mexico for many years. OPTIMA batteries are one of the very best you can buy. I have fitted and used hundreds of them over the last 25 years in a large Fire department. Regards, Kevin.

Re: Optima 6 Volt Red Top Battery
Meant to say that the 6 volt Optima batteries are only made in batches as required or when production allows because of their lower demand and therefore sometimes are out of stock. Think ourselves very lucky that they are made at all. Regards, Kevin.

Re: Optima 6 Volt Red Top Battery
I gave up on the Optima batteries. First one lasted 9 years, second one lasted three. Went and bought a conventional 6 volt at Auto Zone and its been much better.

Agree with koates , I’ve used at least 20 6 v in last 20 years and 20 , 12 v , had two 12v that lasted less than a year but they gave me new ones and most fail after 10-12 years I think there superior compared to conventional acid battery’s that cause corrosion, from fumes , or acid , most 6 v I install horizontal to allow for dual ex

Re: Optima 6 Volt Red Top Battery
Got my new one this summer at a local Advance Auto Parts. It was 10 months old, but it’s working well and holding good charge. There is a shortage for some reason. I am in the camp of being glad I even got one, and that they are being made at all.
