'40 Radio Problem
'40 Philco plays weak on only one station. Discovered that momentarily touching antenna to ground with a 1.5 test light produces full volume on 6 stations for 8 minutes, then dies back.Same way in the car or on the bench. Know nothing about electronics. Can anybody help with this? Carl

Re: '40 Radio Problem
Guessing a capacitor problem, if your adventurous you could unsolder and replace the capacitors one at a time. Probably best to send it out for repairs.

Re: '40 Radio Problem
That is a problem a repair shop that is familiar with old tube type radios needs to fix.
If you should open up the box be aware that there is a high enough voltage inside, when the radio is on, that will light up your ears if you contact it. |

Re: '40 Radio Problem
Get it converted to modern electronics. Mine even works on a thumb drive with pre recorded music. Also no static.
