55 F100 Stock Wheel/Tire Size
I recently purchased a 55 F100 and the only non-stock item is the wheels & tires. The tires are P275/60R16 radials. Is this too much tire and can it effect steering and handling? Would I get better performance with the stock wheel/tires? What size do I need? Appreciate any help!

Re: 55 F100 Stock Wheel/Tire Size
if it isn't lowered they are pretty big looking (like a 4x4). on my '54 panel i have 215/85 lt 16 and they handle great (and fit on stock 16x5 wheels). you could wear out tie rod ends quicker with super wide tires other then that it all comes down to how you want it to look.

Re: 55 F100 Stock Wheel/Tire Size
My 54 had the stock 16" rims in the bed when i bought it however i can't remember the exact size rubber that was on it. According to my manual the original stock bias tires are 6.00x16-6 but i don't know what that would convert to in a radial.

600 16 is stock, most went to 650 16 if they wanted to haul anything more than sail boat fuel. In today's world, if you want to drive the truck, stay with radials. About a 215 15 would look good on a stock truck, ride well, handle well, and be safer on the road.

Re: 55 F100 Stock Wheel/Tire Size
it depends on the width of the wheel. i wanted to take up some of the wheelwell without lowering it, so i went with the 85 series and the smallest width was the 215. most of the chain tire stores said the minimum wheel width was 5.5" (according to their book ) and i had to talk them into putting them on. you should be able to put on a 195 on a 4" and a 205 on a 4.5" wide wheel and be fine. btw the '47 has 4.5" wide wheels and 195/75 r 16 tires.

Re: 55 F100 Stock Wheel/Tire Size
I run 225x75x16 on my '51 PU stock rims and works great. Close to the 650-16 bias ply.
