Default 1936 Ford dash light switch

The dash light switch doesn’t work properly on the 36 Ford I am working on. Does anyone know of a good reliable place to send it to be repaired? If no one repairs them, does anyone have a working switch they would be willing to sell? Thank you, Craig

Thank you Bob56, I looked but couldn't find it. Can you give me better searching information? Craig

The dash light switch can sometimes be made to work by making sure that the terminals on the switch are straight. If they bend towards each other the switch may not work. By using a small piece of plastic or wood pressed between the terminals to make them straight could solve the problem.

Remember the switch is on at the in position and is off when you pull it out. The 35 Ford works similar, however I have been told it operates in the opposite position.

I can not figure out why you would leave the lights on and shutoff the dash lights, but Henry Ford must have had some reason.

This was pre-dash lights dimmer I believe, but almost all dash lights have the capability to be dimmed and/or turned off. This is because the lights can be a distraction under some conditions.

The dash lights work sometime but if the switch knob is wiggled the lights will go off and on (flicker). Something inside the switch is worn and not making good contact. Craig

The dash light switch for the 35-36 is not a dimmer, strictly on-off.Ford did not introduce the dimmer -maybe in the 40's. Yes the 35 and 36 work opposite. You can most likely fix yours by pulling it out of the dash and taking it apart.they are very simple.I have done this on both on a 35 & 36 that I once owned.

Sorry, it sold yesterday. It was a buy it now for $99.00. I don't know how to link the add but the seller was 88outsidethenine. You can look in completed auctions. I had the same problem a couple years back and I advertised in the classified ads here both for sale and wanted that I was looking for a headlight switch for my 36 and a fellow barner contacted me from New Zealand that he had one and I jumped on it.
Sorry you missed the one yesterday
