Default 39 coupe floor mat

I tried all our normal suppliers. I need a toupe (tan) color floor mat. All I can find is black or grey.

I tried: Drake, Mac, C&G, Carpenter & Labaron.

Any other ideas?

Thanks Andy

Carpenter sells the closest to authentic. That's Benton Gray.

Gray would be the correct choice. It isn't really "gray" in my eyes but more of a dark tan. Regardless, Carpenter makes the best one available.

Dark tan would be ok. My interior is all beige. Not a concorse car.

The pics shown on vendor site are not good to determine color.

Don't be put off by the use of the word "gray". As Mike stated, it really isn't what one would normally call "gray", but rather medium brown, even though it was called Benton Gray by Ford. The last model year that Ford used a taupe mat was 1935.

adileo: I bought this front floor mat for my 40 coupe from Carpenter Oct 6, 2013. $160 + $14.99 shipping. I think it will also fit a 39. It looks like a tan color. Perhaps they have it in stock for a 40.

That would be perfect. I'd have to cut hole for stick shift, easy enough.

Ill call them, they don't show it on their site - you know what they called it?

I would suggest you purchase the mat for a '39. The floors are not quite the same as '40. Not certain that in itself would make a difference buy why take the chance? Plus, the '40 has a hole for a floor mounted dimmer switch.
Carpenter #4013-7013000-T for the proper '39 mat.

adileo: Mike has made some good points. 40 mat isn't correct for a 39 if you're aiming for a 100 pt. restoration. Many years ago I bought the black 40 mat from Drake and it looked good, but not correct color.
Anyway, here's what the receipt from Carpenter says. Part# 4014-7013000-T , 1940 FRONT FLOOR MAT BENTON GREY W/JUTE. I can tell you the mat has no grey color, so you better call them first just to make sure it's what you desire.

This mat certainly looks 'gray' to me....or is it my computer that makes it look so....

I bought a mat for the '39 CS from Carpenter in '91, it was taupe in color, it has faded over the years and now has several cracks in it as well... Guess it's time for a new one. Looks like I'll be calling Carpenter again.

Wow post 6 & 8 are both Benton gray? If 8 is the color of Benton gray from Carpenter, I'm good.

39 mat is a chocolate brown IMHO. Buddy has original mat, Bennie Bootle had one,in original 15,000 car.

Original mats on most occasions turned nearly black and that is (in my opinion) why many believe the current repops are not correct. I've even had guys (Bootle is one) insist that the '40 so called "standard' models came with a black mat. which most of us know is patently false.

Lawson, that chocolate brown was Benton Gray when new...
